There is no doubt in my mind that our society is slowly if not rapidly sliding into a state of fatherlessness. The more you talk on family issues with our young, the more you realise something has to be done.
As I see it, churches are the only institutions who have the power to attack the scourge of fatherlessness that has drifted into the fabric of our society. Up to 40%+ of our children do not live with their birth father. The times are tough and this is our chance to take action for God, to restore fatherhood and reconcile families. The church must act. For the sake of our children, we must.
It’s time to take action. The cultural shift is all around us. It’s time to stop blaming and complaining, and start doing something to help men—it’s past time. Logan city needs a men’s ministry that can change the face of society.
The apostle Paul in Ephesians 6:4 in the Amplified version says, “Fathers, do not irritate and provoke your children to anger [do not exasperate them to resentment], but rear them [tenderly] in the training and discipline and the counsel and admonition of the Lord.”
This is not passive action, it is direct and deliberate; taking responsibility for God’s giving us of His creation – children. Paul wasn’t asking, he was directing in apostolic authority. For too long the church has taken this responsibility off the parent, and in a sense failed miserably in raring children in a knowledge of the Lord.
Is it feasible? Is it doable? Absolutely!
Logan City and the pastors of the city need to stand, one heart, one mind, one accord regarding this onslaught of fatherlessness.
